Was born on 3rd April,1939. Educational qualifications: BSc.(Agriculture), MSc.(Agriculture) from University of Punjab, Pakistan. Two years post graduate studies in seed certification and certain allied problems of the farm seeds. Initial training in seed certification and seed testing from Central Seed Station, Copenhagen, Denmark. Thirty nine years experience in the field of seed technology. Retired as Director General, Federal Seed Certification & Registration Department, Ministry of Food & Agri., Govt. of Pakistan. Major Contributions to the seed industry: Formulated minimum seed certification standards for Pakistan. Developed procedures and guidelines for certified seed production of various crops. Framed various rules under Seed Act, 1976.Was closely associated in formulation of National Seed Policy. Was Accredited Member of ISTA. Published more than 7 books and booklets and forty technical papers on various aspects of seed technology. Represented Pakistan to various International Seed Seminars, Conferences and Workshops. Widely travelled and studied seed industries of USA, France, Holland, Denmark & West Germany. Worked as a Seed Consultant with the Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman. Worked as National Seed Consultant with ICARDA.
